Planning Theory

My theoretical work focuses on the development of enhanced planning theories.  I explore this issue by articulating meta-theoretical heuristics in planning—essentially, tools for analyzing desirable qualities of planning theories.  Two such concepts are optimal gloom and adequate ambiguity.

(1) Optimal gloom is a concept that explores the relationship between critique (gloom) and action (agency).

(2) Adequate ambiguity argues that all theoretical constructs in planning that over emphasize details (or take extreme positions) reduce room for the coexistence of conflicting and competing views and interests.

Both these concepts articulate qualities, in my view, that if included, enhance planning theories.
