Climate Change and Cities

I have developed a conceptual framework for a city-climate-risk diagnostic that was tested by my co-authors in four cities—Lagos, Buenos Aires, Delhi, and New York.  The framework has also been utilized by scholars to analyze risks to French Railroads, and is being used by UN-Habitat and the World Bank to conduct risk assessments in developing-country cities.

Additionally, the next Climate Change and Cities book builds on my present engagement, with the aim to continue a second collaborative state-of-the-knowledge assessment.  The objective is to provide a stronger emphasis on the variety of evolving climate risks and associated new adaptation and mitigation approaches for infrastructure sectors, both domestic and international, combining theory with practice.
